San Diego Vacation Rental Guide
If you’re visiting San Diego and you need to find a great rental that suites your purposes this the guide for you. In it we’re going to explore some of the common misconceptions people have about a good vacation rental and how to find the perfect home, RV, or hotel for your get away. By the end of this article you should be able to easily evaluate if the vacation rental in San Diego is the one you’re looking for or if it’s not and be able to find a better one if the situation arises.
The first misconception most people have about San Diego Vacation Rentals it that they have to be pricey. There’s many places to stay in San Diego on a budget if you know how to look for them. The way most people go about it is to do an internet search and look at two or three of the top competing hotel results but it’s not necessarily the best way to truly experience San Diego on a dollar for dollar basis. If you’re willing to get creative the sky is the limit on visiting this great city for cheap. I would recommend first checking out the local San Diego Craigslist to see what they have to offer, often times people will lease out their house as a vacation rental for a very reasonable rate, or if that’s not in the books you can definitely rent a room for a night or two at a great location. The next cheapest option is to rent a room at a San Diego Hostel. With a Hostel you can get a room as little as $33 a night and have a terrific experience. Finally you could look into a San Diego RV Rental which can double as a rental car in your quest to see the city. These you can often park for free at a local Walmart and then drive the whole family with you to see the sights making them a very affordable option.
The next misconception people have is one that they really don’t think about most of the time, location. Location, location, location, as they say in the real estate world, location is everything. Before you book a potential place to stay evaluate whether it will serve all your needs. You need to think about that late night snack you might need, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and finally how close is it to all the things that you want to explore in the great city of San Diego or its surrounding cities of Encinitas, San Onofre, Mission Bay, Point Loma, or La Jolla. Budget will of course factor in here as well, you don’t want your rental to be centered around super pricey restaurants if you’re not able to afford them, this of course is turned on its head if you’re renting a luxury home in Coronado.
The final misconception that I try to get people to think ahead of time for is the parking. Parking can be a major headache in all cities but you definitely want to consider it for San Diego. Parking fees can vary from as little as $5 an hour up to $50 a day. If you’re renting a car please scout out ahead of time where you’re going to be parking and the costs as they can certainly add up to a considerable sum. Hotel parking fees are often one of the biggest fees in the city at about $45 a day per car, that is of course for unlimited parking and if you added up an hourly rate it’s reasonable, but there are still much better deals out there if you know where to look. I again implore you to explore Craigslist to see if anyone has any special rates. You may also want to call around to nearby hotels and see what their parking costs and then walk to your own place.
Now that you’ve seen the most common misconceptions about San Diego’s rentals for vacation I would like to share a list of the most popular destinations with you. I’m going to first share the beaches that I know you’ll love and then I’ll share some other ideas of things to do in and around this great city.
